What’s Next for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex? Royal Expert Omid Scobie Has the Answers

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have had quite a busy year since stepping down as senior members of the royal family. They launched their Archewell Foundation, moved to a new home, announced a pregnancy and participated in a tell-all interview. Need we say more?
Luckily, PureWow’s own Royally Obsessed podcast hosts recently spoke with Omid Scobie, author of Finding Freedom and co-host of ABC’s The Heirpod podcast. Of course, co-hosts Roberta Fiorito and Rachel Bowie had to ask Scobie what we should expect next for the Sussexes. His answer, in short: a lot.
“It's exciting. I think we’ll actually get to see the things we’ve been talking almost exhaustively about, so to actually see some of the fruits of their Netflix labor, to hear the Spotify series—it was a great start,” Scobie said during the interview. “I think what's really interesting is that they’re just not rushing. I don't think those first episodes of the Spotify series will be around for quite some time and I think that's partly has to do with the fact that there's a baby on the way and also other focuses.”
“But I think if anything that's the one thing we’ve seen: a change in the way that they work. When they were working members of the royal family they were desperate to prove themselves and jumped from one big project to the next. You really need to look at how quickly Meghan got the Smart Works collection out or how quickly Harry got Invictus off the ground. That’s kind of how they approach their work. But I think there's also a beauty in taking your time as well. I think when you want to create a long-lasting legacy for yourselves, and for them as the Sussexes not as royals, slow and steady is the way forward. I think we’ll definitely be seeing the growth of the Archewell Foundation continue this year and I think that we’ve heard a lot about the initial partnerships and organizations that they’ll be working with over the rest of the year. So, I think we’re going to see a lot of that as time goes by.”
During the episode, Scobie also opened up about the couple’s relationship with the media.
He continued, “But it’ll be very interesting also to see how they continue to work or not work with the media because I think they’re lucky in a way that no matter what they do there is a press that is desperate to have every detail. But then again there will also come a point where they have to prove themselves where that sort of honeymoon period and excitement for what they're doing may subside a little. And then that's where it's like, ‘Where are the goods?’ And I don’t actually think the Invictus series that will be out next year will be the first thing we see from Archewell on Netflix.”
