New Video Shows What Really Happens to Your Luggage at an Airport

The baggage process at airports seems pretty simple — you give it to a gate agent, they tag it and put it on a conveyor belt. Then it magically appears on the luggage carousel at your final destination. (Or at least you hope that it does.)

But have you ever wondered what happens to your luggage after it disappears into that dark chute?

From the plane to baggage claim, an awesome new video at Schiphol Airport in Amsterdam shows your luggage’s exciting journey.

Using a camera attached to a black suitcase, the video takes viewers on a ride through a maze of conveyor belts, drops, and turns. It’s feels like you’re riding on a roller coaster, but without the nausea.

The system at Schiphol is truly impressive, with multiple levels and various tracks that a bag can travel on. There’s even a high tech robotic arm that places suitcases on the baggage claim carousel.

The video was released by Schiphol Airport to give travelers a behind-the-scenes look at how the airport really works. In addition to the video, there’s also a 360-degree version where users can drag an arrow for an even more immersive viewing experience.

Want to really geek out on luggage videos? Delta Airlines released this video of a bag traveling through an airport.

Experiencing the baggage POV is surprisingly entertaining, but we must admit…watching the complicated choreography also explains how bags go missing!
