Netflix's hit teen comedy is returning for a third season this summer, after season 2 saw our chaotic fave Devi (Maitreyi Ramakrishnan) through all the twists and turns and questionable decisions as she navigates the love triangle between herself, popular guy Paxton (Darren Barnet), and former nemesis Ben (Jaren Lewison). The streamer renewed the teen comedy soon after the new episodes immediately hit Netflix's top 10 after their release last July.

"We are so grateful to Netflix and Universal Television for letting us continue to tell this story, and to the fans around the world who clamored to see more of this badly behaved Indian teenager," creators Mindy Kaling and Lang Fisher said in a joint statement last August. Now, as the third season gets closer, Netflix is releasing new details about the kids of Sherman Oaks High.

Never Have I Ever season 3 will premiere on August 12, 2022.

Netflix announced the premiere date this week, along with dropping several stills from the upcoming season. The pics show hints of the social shift as Devi and Paxton attend school as a public couple, with drama queen Eleanor (Ramona Young) planning to capitalize on the hype with a novelty tee. Other photos show a tense interaction between Devi and Ben, Aneesa (Megan Suri) hanging out with Eleanor and Fabiola (Lee Rodriguez) in Devi's room, and Eric (Jack Seavor McDonald) wearing a shirt that hints that the high school's gossip has gone to a new level.

Anirudh Pisharody has joined Never Have I Ever season 3 as a new student.

The streamer has also revealed a new cast member, with Pisharody joining the cast as Des, an Indian American teen who goes to an elite private school and will be Devi's academic rival. The actor is best known for his recurring role as firefighter Ravi Panikkar on the Fox drama 9-1-1.

Besides Pisharody, most of the show's cast is returning, including Ramakrishnan, Barnet, Lewison, Young, Rodriguez, Suri, Poorna Jagannathan, Richa Moorjani, and narrator John McEnroe.

Never Have I Ever season 3 will see Devi figure out how to be in a relationship.

Season 2 of Never Have I Ever ended with an apparent resolution to the central love triangle, with Devi going public with her relationship with Paxton at the winter dance. Though Ben is dating transfer student Aneesa, he still has unresolved feelings for Devi when he sees her and Paxton together.

Showrunner and executive producer Lang Fisher told ET that the show's writers aren't necessarily Team Paxton or Team Ben. She added that who Devi will end up with is anybody's guess. "It's going to be a fun, messy ride until the show ends and once again, maybe she chooses neither. They're high schoolers. They don't have to end up together. They should probably date a lot more people before they settle down."

Fisher also hinted that a third season would be about Devi figuring out how to be in a real relationship. "This has been her dream for the entire series. Day 1 she's like, 'We've got to get boyfriends.' That's all she's wanted, and now she has one and he is the most popular boy in the school. What is that going to be like? Is it going to be the dream that she had always imagined it would be or will it be more complicated? And probably it will be more complicated than that. There's still these things to explore in terms of sex and what do you do if you're a nerd who's done very little and you're dating a much more experienced guy?"
