Refresh my memory: What happened at the end of season 1?

Spoiler alert! The final episode of season 1 gave Mel more questions than answers: At the start of the episode, Jack learned that Charmaine was pregnant, which made his budding romance with Mel even more complicated. Before Jack even had a chance to discuss the news with Mel, Hope beat him to it. Hope quickly realizes the mistake she made, but knows that the damage has already been done. As a result, Mel questions how the baby will change their future, especially since she knows she can't have children of her own. She tells Jack that she needs time to think and packs up her bags to head back home.

Aside from Mel and Jack, we also found out more about Paige's backstory. In a conversation with Preacher, she revealed that her ex-husband was abusive toward her and Christopher. When she left him, he told the judge that she was mentally unfit to parent Christopher, leaving him in full custody of their son. She wouldn't let him win, though: Paige kidnapped Christopher and ran away to Virgin River. That same day, her ex-husband tracked her down, and Preacher went to check on her only to find an empty house with blood on the floor.

What will Virgin River season 2 be about?

Season 2 will pick up right where the first season left off. We'll get more details about Paige and Christopher's whereabouts, as well as learn more about Mel's decision regarding her relationship with Jack. Even with all the drama, there's bound to be some romance, especially now that Hope and Doc kissed and made up.
