Summer television has a reputation for being a little slow, so when a flashy new series comes along out of nowhere, it's hard not to pay attention. When the flashy show features nuns with superpowers that give them extra strength and extreme talents in the martial arts, then you definitely check it out.

Netflix's breakout hit, Warrior Nun, follows Ava Silva—a one-time quadriplegic orphan who returns from the dead with an ancient relic in her back and a whole new set of kickass fighting skills. With a new chance at living Ava walks the complicated line between her new set of impossibly attractive friends, and her very important role within the Order of the Cruciformed Sword. Demonic forces don't police themselves!

Beyond the somewhat out-there premise, the series boasts one of the most effortlessly diverse casts on Netflix (or otherwise) right now. While most of the actors featured on the series are relatively new to the limelight, the young cast leading Warrior Nun's insanely bizarre world of otherworldly beasts and demonic beasts is (almost) as interesting as the series' inventive plot.
