Slip on your latex spy suit, pack your electroshock bubbles, and arm yourself with instant cement — the beloved Y2K movie franchise Spy Kids is getting the Netflix film reboot treatment.

On March 30 — which happens to be the 21st anniversary of the movie's original release Netflix announced on Facebook that they have partnered with Skydance and Spyglass as well as Spy Kids director Robert Rodriguez to write, direct, produce, and revive the franchise.

The first film in the series of four saw Carmen and Juni Cortez (Alexa PenaVega and Daryl Sabara) as two young kids, oblivious to the fact that their parents (Antonio Banderas and Carla Gugino) work for the Organization of Super Spies (OSS). After their parents are captured, the Cortez children join the family business of espionage to save their family and defeat the powers that plan to take over the world with artificial intelligence programmed to mimic spies from OSS.

In later films, we see the Cortez clan as agents working together on top-secret missions across the globe, taking on foes, and meeting new friends along the way. In the fourth and most recent film, Spy Kids 4, we got to see the Cortez siblings reunite as adults to become co-leaders in charge of reviving the Spy Kids program.

And while not all of the details are set, we couldn't be happier to see that the international super spies are back in action! Here's what we know about Netflix's Spy Kids reboot film so far:

Will Juni and Carmen be back for the Spy Kids reboot?

While we loved seeing the family reunion in Spy Kids 4, it appears that Carmen and Juni will not be the focus of the reboot. In the Facebook announcement caption, Netflix said that the reimagined Spy Kids will "introduce the world to a new family of spies."

But that doesn't mean that we won't be seeing the brother-sister duo on our screens again. There's still time for them to sign on and make a cameo appearance. Fingers crossed!

What is the Spy Kids remake about?

According to a press release, "When the children of the world's greatest secret agents unwittingly help a powerful Game Developer unleash a computer virus that gives him control of all technology. They must become spies themselves to save their parents and the world."

Who has been cast in the Spy Kids reboot so far?

With so many young stars taking over Hollywood right now, we wondered what talented celebs will be joining the OSS, and on June 23, we got our answer.

Gina Rodriguez and Zachary Levi join the flick (possibly as the parents to the spy kids?) as well as youngsters Everly Carganilla and Connor Esterson. We're sure there will be more stars joining the project as it gets closer to filming, so watch this space for updates!

When will the Spy Kids reboot premiere?

Unfortunately, Netflix hasn't given us a release date for the new Spy Kids movie. In the meantime, we'll be brushing up on our spy skills and watching the previous Spy Kids films, which will be available to stream on HBO Max starting July 1.
