Neon Night Ride this Friday at the Lenoir Rotary Soccer Complex

May 30—Friday is the last day of school, so that means it's time for the Neon Night Ride on the City of Lenoir greenway.

The family-friendly event is open to everyone who can ride a bicycle. Come to the Lenoir Rotary Soccer Complex at 8:30 p.m., Friday, May 31, 2024. No registration is needed, according to a press release from the city.

The city encourages participants to decorate a bike ahead of time and bring a bike light or head lamp.

Participants can use the following to light a bike:

—glow sticks

—glow necklaces

—LED bike lights

—glow-in-the-dark tape


—other stuff that glows!

There will also be some glow items available at the soccer complex for participants to wear or put on a bike. Attendees can decorate their bikes from 8:30 to 9 p.m.

The ride will start around 9 p.m. and travel from the Lenoir Rotary Soccer Complex to the Powell Road parking lot. There will be a short break and then head back to the Lenoir Rotary Soccer Complex.

There will be lead and tail riders to keep participants together as a group. Restrooms are available at the soccer complex and Powell Road parking lot.

Please follow the rules to make sure the ride is fun for everyone:

1. Bicycles only

2. Helmets required

3. No passing

4. No scooters

5. No skateboards

6. No walking

7. No pets

Please bring a bicycle helmet. In North Carolina, children under 16 who are riding on a public roadway, public bicycle path, or other public right-of-way must wear a properly fitted bicycle helmet.
