Nebraska's first spring game under Scott Frost is already sold out

Nebraska fans are really excited about the arrival of Scott Frost.

How excited? The team’s spring game — a glorified scrimmage — is already completely sold out. It took about 24 hours for all of the seats at Memorial Stadium to be completely snatched up.

Per the Omaha World Herald, the first 60,000 tickets were sold to season ticket holders in about seven hours. From there, the other tickets went on sale to the general public. And less than 90 minutes later they were all gone.

Memorial Stadium, which has a listed capacity of 85,458, is sold out on a weekly basis during the regular season (361 straight, in fact), but not the spring game. According to ESPN, this game, which will be played April 21, will mark the first spring sellout in program history.

The record for spring game attendance occurred at Ohio State in 2016, when more than 100,000 fans filled Ohio Stadium.

The excitement stems from the hiring of Frost, a Nebraska graduate who led Central Florida to an undefeated season in just his second season leading the program. Frost inherited a Knights team that went 0-12. Two years later, UCF knocked off Auburn in the Peach Bowl. That kind of turnaround and his recruiting prowess have Huskers fans fired up for their first glimpse at a Frost-led Nebraska squad.

Nebraska went 5-7 last year, leading to the firing of Mike Riley.
