NCT 127’s Made History as The First K-Pop Group to Perform at Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade

“I’m going to cry this is what they deserve.”

NCT 127 has earned a place in the music history books as the first K-Pop act to ever perform at Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.

On November 28, eight members of the group (namely Mark Lee, Johnny, Taeyong, Taeil, Doyoung, Yuta, Jaehyun, and Haechan) rode LEGO’s Brick-Changer float at the traditional parade.

Apart from the usual parade shenanigans, the members delighted fans in attendance (and the other few thousands watching from home while prepping their Thanksgiving dinner) with a performance of their hit song “Highway to Heaven,” off their latest EP We Are Superhuman.

This isn’t the first time the group has made history either. Earlier this month, they became the first K-pop group to perform at MTV’s European Music Awards in Seville — and they too sang “Highway to Heaven” for the occasion.

For this performance, the eight members took to the streets of New York City decked in their best festive fits and their power moves left fans (known as NCTzens equal parts delighted and surprised. “Nct on the lego float at the macy's thanksgivings day parade while cherry bomb is blasting is just surreal,” one NCTzen commented on Twitter. “I’m going to cry this is what they deserve yuta looks so freaking happy to be on that float and the way i can feel his eyes practically shinning it’s such a beautiful day,” another one added.

And the annual parade is not the last thing the NCT 127 boys have in the pipeline while on American soil. Today, November 29, the group is performing at TODAY Show‘s 2019 Citi Concert Series — which will be also taking place in NYC, specifically at the Rockefeller Plaza — and they are also scheduled to perform at POPTOPIA 2019 in California on December 5. Before heading back home though, the group will also be making a stop at Johnny’s native Chicago for B96’s Jingle Bash on December 7.
