The world is still reeling after the tragic death of actress Naya Rivera, who was found dead in California’s Lake Piru earlier this month after a six-day search

Since then, her friends, family, and former Glee costars have been processing the loss in a variety of tributes. On Saturday, July 26, Rivera’s ex-husband, Ryan Dorsey, broke his silence by sharing a long, heartfelt Instagram post about his love for her and how he’ll remember her with their four-year-old son, Josey.

In his post Dorsey said that he’ll make sure Josey will know that “his momma loved him more than life, and how much fun we had together as he was growing up.” Rivera had rented a pontoon boat with Josey on July 8 and was reported missing when the little boy was discovered sleeping alone on the boat. Authorities believe Rivera “mustered enough energy to get her son back on the boat” before she tragically drowned.

“I’m thankful for our times and our journey that brought us together and gave us the sweetest and kindest smart little boy we could ever hope for. I remember sometimes you used to get annoyed at me: ‘Ryan can you stop snap chatting!’ Haha. I’m glad I didn’t listen to you because I have hundreds and probably thousands of snaps and videos that Josey will have forever and know his momma loved him more than life, and how much fun we had together as he was growing up,” he wrote on Instagram. “Life is all about good times and bad times but with Josey it makes the bad a little less so because a part of you will always be with us. He’ll never forget where he came from. We miss you.”

Rivera and Dorsey married in 2014 and announced their divorce two years later. The pair had since been coparenting Josey together for several years.

Dorsey reminded his followers to show each other love and appreciate their time with loved ones. “I’ll just say in closing, be kind to yourself, be kind to others, forgive...forget...don’t hold grudges....if you have nothing nice to say maybe try not to say anything,” he wrote. “There’s peace in silence. Time on Earth is precious and you just never never know what could happen. Hold your loved ones close, and cherish the times you have with those you care about.”
