Nate Berkus' reveals his number one bedroom styling tip – for instant, indulgent luxury

Nate Berkus has designed bedding for more than two and a half decades – but he just achieved (arguably) his biggest milestone: a collection at Bloomingdales.

The designer, known for The Nate Berkus Show and The Nate & Jeremiah Home Project, already had an impressive résumé – but, when it comes to bedding, featuring in Bloomingdales' Third Avenue window is hard to rival.

So, clearly, there was no better time to discuss the best bed sheets than when Nate Home Signature, in collaboration with mDesign, was launched. The top of our agenda? His advice on bedroom styling with luxury bedroom ideas, quickly. And the solution, according to Nate, is simple.

'It’s through layering,' Nate says, in reference to bed styling. 'Having a luxury foundation – the best-woven sheets, with the best cotton – and having the opportunity to layer onto that bed with throws and duvets and decorative pillows is not only the way to obtain luxury – but also really getting your money’s worth when it comes to personalizing your space.'

Nate explains that investing in the best pillows, bed sheets and duvets is a key starting point when designing a bedroom. The space should be curated around sleeping better, after all.

'This whole collection, premium, as well as the Nate Home foundation pieces – really represent for me – a reprioritization of getting your first layer of home correct.'

We're beginning with our favorites from the collection below.

Bouclé Euro Sham

This sham is as comfortable as it is stylish. The trendy bouclé texture adds an instant chic to your bedroom – and it's finished with a knife-edge technique for a premium, tailored look.

Waffle Collection Blanket

This blanket is a part of the Waffle Bedding Collection, featuring a textured weave for a lived-in feel. Woven with a cotton/linen blend, this textural blanket gets even softer and loftier with time.

Chunky Knit Throw

The textured yarn construction of this throw is said to add an immediate style boost to your bedroom (but it also looks great on a living room sofa).

'The relationship with Bloomingdales, for me, is the fulfillment of a long-held personal journey that I’ve been on since I first walked into the store at 11 years old and looked around and saw all the famous designers under one roof,' Nate says. 'The fact that my collection is in the window is something I hope translates to people – that I’m bringing them the best I have to offer with this partnership.'

'It's time that beautiful yet comfortable bedding becomes a priority in our homes, and these products' place in Bloomingdale's window just emphasizes their importance further.

'I’ve had the luck and good fortune to travel all around the world, and I’ve been designing bedding for close to 25 years. I have slept on the most expensive, and I’ve slept in places where it’s felt like I’ve been lying in someone’s lunch bag,' Nate says.

We're avoiding all lunch bag bedding from here on out.
