Depending on the week you're having, the new trailer for Thor: Love and Thunder might have been the best thing about it. Let's take it a step further. What was your favorite part of the trailer that may or may not have been the best part of your week?

You might once again say the "Sweet Child O' Mine" needle drop—no one would blame you—but we think it was Natalie Portman's return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, as the Mighty Thor no less. In the new trailer, Portman's Jane Foster, in full Thor getup, fights alongside Chris Hemsworth's Thor. She even summons and wields a pieced-together Mjölnir, knocking back hoards of baddies like an Avengers mainstay.

While we're all, without a doubt, ready to see Portman's Mighty Thor in action, Marvel hasn't told us how or why Jane Foster is back in the superhero game. The last we heard about Foster was a throwaway line in Thor: Ragnarok that revealed she had broken up with him, plus confirmation in Avengers: Endgame that she was among the Blipped.

Now, thanks to a product description on fan collectibles site Eaglemoss, we might have a few clues as to how Foster returns to action and becomes Thorified. Here's what Eaglemoss wrote alongside a replica Mighty Thor helmet:

Suffering from cancer, astrophysicist and Thor’s ex-girlfriend, Jane Foster, visited New Asgard and her life was changed forever. Mysteriously, the broken pieces of Mjolnir, the hammer of the thunder god, transformed her into the Mighty Thor and gifted her the superpowers of Thor, to battle threats internal and external. Wielding Mjolnir herself, she had become a godly protector and a new hero was born!

With the help of Thor, Valkyrie, and the Guardians of the Galaxy, the Mighty Thor was faced by the powerful Gorr, the God Butcher. With divine powers himself, Gorr was driven to rid the universe of gods wherever he found them. Battling cancer in her human form and Gorr in her godly form, Jane Foster was embroiled in an epic struggle with plenty of love and thunder!

Obviously, we have to wait until official confirmation from Marvel until we can truly treat this plot info as MCU canon. But this potential storyline matches up with an arc from the comic books, where—after doctors diagnosed her with cancer—Jane Foster was called by the hammer of Thor, leading the astrophysicist to take up the mantle of Mighty Thor. In Thor: Love and Thunder, you could easily see Foster visiting New Asgard (because it's located on Earth, of course) to catch up with her ex. Suddenly? Mjölnir swoops in, delivers a Thor glow-up, and will you look at that, Esquire has a new favorite superhero.
