Mother-of-two with severe post-natal depression is hit by a car and killed on Boxing Day

A mother-of-two was killed on Boxing Day when she was struck by a car while walking near her home.

Kerri-Ann Assirati, 32, had spent Christmas with her family before the tragic crash on December 26.

Police said Mrs Assirati - who suffered from severe post-natal depression - was pronounced dead at the scene after being hit on the busy road in Nantyglo, near Ebbw Vale, South Wales.

Friends have rallied round to pay tribute to the popular hairdresser, who ran her own salon, Assirati's Styles, in the village.

In a statement, her family said: "Kerri was a fun-loving mother, sister, auntie, partner, daughter and twin sister. She was always outgoing and bubbly, the life and soul and rock of her friends and family.

An online fundraising page for Mrs Assirati has raised more than £7,000 to help her husband Steven and their children Oliver, two, and Noah, seven months.

The mother-of-two had been admitted to a psychiatric hospital earlier this year after she was diagnosed with severe post natal depression.

Friend Laura Bailey said her condition had steadily declined.

She said: "Kerri was a bubbly and fun-loving person who was the life and soul of every party.

"She was there for everyone and always out helping and supporting family and friends. She was always worried about other people and put other people’s needs before her own.”
