So THIS Is How Much Women Spend on Wedding Dresses

Women spend almost $1,000 on average on wedding dresses — and this is a jump DOWN from last year.

Despite the fact that there are several brands that sell cute, affordable wedding dresses, the average amount women still spend on wedding dresses is a major shocker. While Reformation and Topshop may each sell gowns for less than a few hundred dollars, the average wedding dress purchase amounts to $998, according to a new survey by Lyst.

The search not only factored in searches and sales from over 12,000 of its featured brands, it also included a qualitative survey of 100 brides. And while this news may be shocking (and even a little bit depressing), Lyst also reports that the number is far lower than last year's average spend, which was $1,334.

The fascinating survey also revealed that searches for unconventional wedding dresses are up. For example, Lyst has seen a 30 percent increase in searches for white jumpsuits since last January. (Clearly, Solange made a massive impact with her incredible bridal jumpsuit just a couple years ago.) There's one more interesting fact about the survey too, online sales of wedding dress peak in January, which makes total sense with all the spring weddings out there.
