How Much Is Prince Harry Worth? You’d Be Surprised…

ICYMI: Prince Harry and Meghan Markle recently announced that they’re stepping down as “senior” members of the royal family, claiming they want to be “financially independent.”

So, how much is Prince Harry worth? Keep reading for all the details on the duke’s monetary status.

1. How much is Prince Harry worth?

The Duke of Sussex, 35, is worth an estimated $40 million, according to CelebrityNetWorth.com. Although Prince Harry has multiple income sources, the majority of his bank account stems from his inheritance.

2. How much money did Prince Harry inherit?

In the ’90s, Queen Elizabeth (aka the Queen Mother) set up a trust fund for her great-grandchildren. At age 21, Prince William and Prince Harry split the first half of their portion, which totaled around £6 million (about $7.8 million). The Guardian reports that Harry took the majority of the inheritance to “compensate for not becoming sovereign.”

The brothers will split another dividend when they hit age 40. The second installment will be worth an estimated £8 million (about $10 million), though we highly doubt Prince William will be as generous next time around.

Princess Diana also left behind money for her two children. The royal set up a $10 million (after taxes) trust fund for Prince William and Prince Harry, who started receiving dividends at age 25. Forbes estimated the annual checks to be worth around $450,000.

3. Does he have a salary?

Prince Harry previously had a salary when he served in the army. According to Forbes, he earned between $50,000 and $53,000 for his work as a helicopter pilot. Since he technically has no bills, we wouldn’t be surprised if it all went to savings.

Prince Harry also receives an income just for being a member of the royal family. Five percent of his earnings comes from the Sovereign Grant, which is a lump sum of taxpayer dollars that is given to Queen Elizabeth on an annual basis. However, the Duke of Sussex recently revealed that he’ll be discontinuing these funds now that he’s breaking from his royal duties.

The rest (95 percent) stems from the Duchy of Cornwall, which is a privately-run estate managed by Prince Harry’s dad, Prince Charles.

Although we don’t know the exact number, we think it’s a generous amount, since the Sovereign Grant reportedly generated £49.3 million (about $64.3 million) in the 2018-2019 financial year.

4. How much is Meghan Markle worth?

The Suits alum has a reported net worth of $5 million, as Metro reports. If she returns to acting (which could totally happen), that number will likely increase.

On the bright side, baby Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor is totally set.
