How Much Is House Speaker Paul Ryan Worth?
House Speaker Paul Ryan announced he will not seek re-election, telling reporters on Wednesday he has accomplished "big things" and does not want his three children in Wisconsin just to know him as a "weekend dad."
Serving as speaker has been a great honor. Now, with all three of my kids in their teens, I am ready to set new priorities. I intend to serve my full term as I was elected to do. But I will be retiring in January, leaving this majority in good hands and with a bright future. pic.twitter.com/LfyZtZOIn4

When he retires in January, Ryan will give up his $223,500 salary as speaker of the house, which is $49,500 more than U.S. congressmen who do not hold leadership positions make. But according to celebritynetworth.com, Ryan is already worth $7.8 million.
The 48-year-old has been married to former tax attorney Janna Christine Little since December 2000, and a significant chunk of his net worth comes from her side of the family. Following the May 2010 death of his wife's mother, Prudence Little, Ryan's net worth jumped from about $1.5 million to more than $5 million, according to the Center for Responsive Politics, which tracks politicians' financial disclosure forms.
According to the Huffington Post, the Ryans joined assets after they married and Janna Ryan received a one-third interest in the Prudence Little Living Trust following her mother's death. The trust is now listed as the speaker's largest asset, with an estimated value of $3 million. There has been speculation that Ryan is considering running for president in 2020, and if he wins he'll get a hefty salary bump. The president earns $400,000 a year, a figure that President Trump has donated in quarterly installments to government entities like the Department of Education and the National Park Service.
