Comic books are a unique medium in that they never really end. It's the same characters, and sometimes even the same plot lines, revisited over and over again by various artists and writers until the end of time, or the end of the comic book run—whichever comes first. And while most people don't read comic books from their very beginnings, after reading a few comic books runs it can get a little old watching Captain America and Mr. Fantastic and the Eternals battling the same villains year after year. That’s why introducing new people into television shows or movie franchises—or in this case, cinematic universes—can make things fresh again. It’s high time we added some superheroes to the MCU who better reflect all the people who deserve a little hope in their lives. That's where Kamala Khan, aka Ms. Marvel, comes in.

Written by G. Willow Wilson and drawn by Adrian Alphona, Kamala Khan was first published back in 2013. A Pakistani-American from Jersey City, she's exactly the exciting new face the MCU needs. As for her superhero name? Just like any modern superfan, Kamala knows everything about the Avengers, and even has her favorite: Captain Marvel. Although we don't know yet if her idol Carol Danvers (played in the MCU by Brie Larson) is set to appear in Kamala's show, we'll get to see the two team up (along with Teyonah Parris' Monica Rambeau, last seen in WandaVision) in the upcoming The Marvels.

In the meantime, it's time to give Kamala her introduction into the MCU. Ms. Marvel premieres on June 8. And like Loki, Moon Knight, and other recent MCU shows, you won't want to miss a single episode.
