On an April afternoon last year, Susan Sarandon tweeted a photo of herself, hand posed on her hip, hair blown out, and wearing a t-shirt that almost stole the show from how immaculate she looked for age 69: a form-fitting tee with the all-caps slogan, "CALL YOUR MOTHER." Even now that she's 70, Sarandon has always kept her style a bit cheeky, most recently opting for Doc Martens instead of heels—even in a reflective gold—on her press tour for Feud, Ryan Murphy's new series for FX that stars Sarandon as Bette Davis opposite Jessica Lange in the role of Joan Crawford. After all, since Sarandon stepped out in the '70s with Rocky Horror Picture Show, and again in the '90s with Thelma & Louise, the actress's red carpet ensembles have often steered in a more inventive direction, from suits made of blue sequins and mismatched stripes to her favorite nighttime accessories: sunglasses. (Even at the 1996 Academy Awards, where she ended up taking home the Best Actress Oscar.) From fur coats to her ever low-cut dresses and shirts—when she chooses to wear the latter, that is—take a look back at Sarandon's lovably eclectic style from over the years, here.
