The Most-Popular Braid Hairstyles for Fall, According to Pinterest

Fall is officially in full swing, and it's no surprise that people are flocking to Pinterest to find out the best ways to style their hair through the final days of the 2010s. (Can you believe it?) According to a report released by Pinterest, braids and braid tutorials are now some of the most-searched topics on the site, with queries on "braided hairstyles videos" up 4,004 percent. Much like their wardrobes, it sounds like folks are also looking for ways to transition their hairstyles to suit the season. Just think of these popular braid looks as the hair equivalent of a cardigan and a denim jacket.

Bubble braids

Among the top searches, we've got bubble braids, which is one of the easiest hairstyles to achieve because, well, they're not really braids. Instead of plaiting the hair (although you totally can), you divide it with elastics and fluff them up into evenly distributed sections.

Scarf Braid

One of the prettiest and most Insta-worthy trends on the list is actually a carry-over from the summer: the scarf braid. Weave a silk scarf (or two, go wild) into your plaits to serve a look that will make your family think you put some effort in at Thanksgiving dinner.

Pull-Through Braid

The pull-through braid is ideal for those who aren't pros at braiding. The short way of describing a pull-through braid is "tying ponytails together," but this video does a great way of showing how it actually works.

Here are some other stunning ways the look has been styled:

French Fishtail Braid

Fishtail braids are a downright classic, but 2019 brings a new variation on the style: the French fishtail braid. Yes, it's exactly what it sounds like: a French-braided fishtail braid. This is yet another look that's much better shown than written out:

Once you get it down, it can truly turn into some gorgeous hair, perfect for a fall wedding — either as the bride, the bridesmaid, or just an impeccably stylish guest.

Braided Bun

Braided buns are always a stunning way to amplify what can be considered a "basic" hairstyle. Here are just a few of the gorgeous options Pinterest has to offer:

Pinterest clearly has your back when it comes to braiding-style inspiration. Now, go forth and give your hair the autumnal update it deserves.
