What are the most common zodiac signs for serial killers to have?
It’s spooky season, everyone! That means it’s the only time of year where it’s socially acceptable to publicly flaunt your love of all things ghoulish and ghostly without getting weird looks on the street, and while some may be perfectly content with watching Hocus Pocus on loop from October 1st all the way through Halloween, others prefer something a bit more sinister. Yes- I’m talking about murder, and if you’re someone who has got a bit of an obsession with serial killers- you’ve come to the right place.
Everyone from the most renown psychologists to armchair detectives have attempted to get inside the minds of the most infamous serial killers in order to understand what drives someone to commit the ultimate crime, and astrology offers some possible answers, as well.
When looking at the zodiac signs of serial killers, one strikingly obvious pattern stands out, that most of them were born under one of the four mutable signs: Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, or Pisces. Now if you’re dating a Gemini, or that person you cut off in line at the supermarket just happened to be a Virgo, stay calm. Just because someone may have been born under one of these signs in no way guarantees they are capable of cold blood murder, nor does it mean that the other signs in the Zodiac are any less capable, but there’s a clear trend here that’s worth exploring.
Mutable Signs
Simply put, to have a mutable sign means that there is an adaptable, changeable, “chameleon” like quality to the personality. Regardless of whichever mutable sign a person may be born under, they will most certainly be “go with the flow” type, adapting their mood, thoughts, and ideas to compliment those of the people they surround themselves with. They can be restless, anxious folks always looking for the next idea, person, or place that ignites a passion in them- at least for a little while, until boredom or the next best thing comes along ushering them into new fixations, some of which can be more nefarious in nature.
Gemini (May 21 - June 20)

Some of the most notorious serial killers like Jeffrey Dahmer and David Berkowitz (the Son of Sam) were born under this mutable air sign. Gemini is typically very intellectual with an endless curiosity and willingness to learn about any topic. They can be very charismatic and charming, and can hold a conversation with just about anyone. The Gemini glyph is the twins, and this represents the dual, changeable nature of this sign. Gemini is no stranger to being called two faced, and behind that charming façade, there can lurk a really sociopathic persona with a maniacal streak that they are experts at concealing. Moreover, being associated with the element of air, which is primarily about intellect and communication, Gemini can seriously lack empathy and remorse, and have been known to have a seriously mischievous, almost morbid sense of humor, cultivating the perfect temperament to kill in cold blood.

Pisces is a water sign that is known for their deeply empathetic disposition,
making it seem pretty counterintuitive that it’s one of the most common signs for serial killers to have. Because of the changeable nature of the sign, Pisces can end up feeling too many emotions at once- their own, that of their family and friends, their dog, they soak it all in, and if these emotions are extremely negative, then this can twist the soul of a typically sweet and soft natured Pisces into something incredibly malevolent. When overtaken by intense emotions, Pisces wishes to escape reality by any means possible, and may even try to lose themselves in the overpowering experience of death-even if it means having to summon the grim reaper themselves. Sounds pretty sinister, right? John Wayne Gacy didn’t seem to think so.
Virgo (August 23 - September 22)

So it may come as a surprise that many a serial killer has been born under this mutable earth sign. Virgos are known for their meticulous, systematic, and efficient nature. A serial killer with this sign could use these traits to obsessively plan every step they’d need to get away with a crime and go perfectly under the radar. Virgos are sometimes known to be overly critical and judgmental. When used for good, this can be used to improve the world around them, however when taken to the extreme, a Virgo may no longer be able to see the person behind their flaws, losing their humanity in the process.
Sagittarius (November 22 - December 21)

This mutable fire sign is best known for their love of excitement and adventure. Fire signs in general are known to steamroll heavy emotions that could get in the way of their fun, giving them a tendency to be less empathetic than other signs. So when skydiving and rock climbing no longer suffice in providing the ultimate adrenaline rush, killing may start to seem like a good idea- at least Ted Bundy seemed to think so.
Again, to all the Geminis, Virgos, Sagittarians, Pisceans, out there, and to those who know them- don’t freak. No, you aren’t the next Richard Ramirez. There’s a whole mess of factors that contribute to why someone is driven to kill, and astrology is just another way for us to try to make sense of the unimaginable. We may never know for sure what creates a killer, but the pattern here is hard to deny. If anything, now you can wow all your friends at your next Halloween party by letting them know Ted Bundy was a Sagittarius just like creepy Jim from accounting!
