The Morning Show Season 2 Trailer Just Dropped, and It’s a Doozy

“We should just tell the truth quickly. They’re gonna cut us off,” says Bradley Jackson (Reese Witherspoon) in the tantalizing first peek at the second season of The Morning Show. She and her coanchor are about to expose their toxic workplace on their workplace’s own channel. A risky proposition, and she knows it. Then, over a cover of “New York, New York,” we see her, Alex Levy (Jennifer Aniston), Cory Ellison (Billy Crudup), and the rest of the cast dealing with and reacting to the explosive revelations from the last season. Allegations of misogyny, harassment, and assault have torn this morning news show apart and led to the ousting of Mitch (Steve Carell). Now it’s time to start picking up the pieces.

In the teaser, we see Cory vow to “get Alex back” despite Stella’s (Greta Lee’s) doubts and Alex’s own refusal. Hasan Minhaj appears to take Alex’s place alongside Bradley, who isn’t exactly happy with the situation, though her blue coat is pretty damn fabulous. And Mark Duplass’s and Carell’s characters are…moping. Carell, at least, in front of a green screen. I mean, um, in the Mediterranean or something. Meanwhile, Maria Gay Harden’s Maggie Brener wants the truth to come out! But the most exciting appearance is the new character of Laura Peterson, played by Julianna Margulies. Laura seems to be a Diane Sawyer type, hosting a sit-down tell-all with Alex.

We also get glimpses of a New Year’s Eve party throughout, and the date—2020—raises the question of how far into the year the new episodes will take us, and if they’ll have anything to do with the pandemic. We didn’t see anyone in masks, but they could always be saving it for a twist. As Aniston wrote on Instagram, due to the pandemic this season “took a little longer than expected.”

The second season, which will be 10 episodes long, per Variety, premieres September 17. New episodes will drop every Friday.
