This Mom's Binky Trick For Getting Her Baby To Sleep Through The Night Is Going Viral

From Women's Health

Listen up, new parents: If you're desperate for a good night's sleep (and your little one is, too), this mom's clever hack may be just the trick you need.

Laura Gerson, mom to 11-year-old Amelia, found that leaving 10 pacifiers in her daughter's crib prevents her from fussing and crying at night, a trick that she shared with her fellow mothers in The Motherload Facebook group. Amelia tends to lose or drop her pacifier (a.k.a. her dummy) quite often and this simple solution ensures she always has one at her disposal (the baby also finds it soothing to hold one in each hand while she sleeps). Laura claims the tot now sleeps without interruption for 12 hours a night.

"Since my little one was about 3 months old, she's gone to bed with roughly 10 dummies in with her," Laura wrote in the group. "Found that when she cried, all she wanted was a dummy then she'd go back off. 99 percent of the time she feels around, finds a dummy, sticks it in, and she's sorted." Thanks to her large binky collection, Amelia hasn't fussed or required Laura's attention throughout the night for eight months straight.

Since sharing her trick on Facebook, Laura's post has gone viral with dozens of other mothers praising Laura or chiming in to share their own positive experiences. "Why, why, why did I not think of this?! My little one loves his dummy and I am always getting up to put it back in," one mother wrote. "I do this too--3 up each end of the cot plus one in her mouth and one attached to a comforter," another shared.

Kudos to Laura for helping parents and babies everywhere get some much needed shut-eye!
