Mom thrift-flips bargain dress into toddler’s first pageant gown: ‘You did something magic to the dress’

A mom is shocking the internet by flipping a 50-cent dress into a glamorous gown for her daughter’s very first pageant.

TikToker Margaret had a limited budget of $10 to make her toddler Evelynn’s pageant dress. The mother documented the gown’s transformation for her 79,000 followers, and it racked up 7.9 million views. Margaret’s account is mostly sewing projects and to say the page is impressive is an understatement. She also runs an Etsy shop where she sells handmade children’s clothes, so sewing is a bit of her specialty.

First, the pair hit up a store to pick up some supplies. They bought embellishments and add-ons for the dress for a few dollars.

“Here is the dress. We got this for 50 cents. I just love the color,” the mother explained.

The dress was sleeveless and tiered with several shades of pink. But the mom thought it looked even better inside out, where it was less busy.

In the second part of the series, Margaret revealed Evelynn’s finished look. The mom added pink and silver metallic floral embellishments at the top and a sparkling silver belt. The light pink dress also had hot pink tule peeking out from under the skirt, thanks to mom turning the gown inside out. Evelyn wore a matching pink bow in her hair and rose gold shoes.

The toddler strutted her stuff on stage for the judges as mom escorted her in front of the crowd. The little girl dazzled at her first pageant, and it appeared to be a success.

“Evelynn did so amazing! I had to hold back tear(s). I was so proud of her and she has so much fun! Evelynn got prettiest eyes!” Margaret said.

People loved Margaret’s thrift-flip and praised the mom’s sewing skills.

“You did something magic to the dress. It looks gorgeous,” one person said.

“Dress turned out fabulously. Way to go, mama,” another said.

“She looked precious!” a user wrote.
