A mother allegedly left her 3-year-old child home alone “for several hours” while she and her boyfriend drank at a bar before passing out on the street.

On Saturday, Kelly May Algar, 26, of Georgia and her boyfriend left the child at home to visit Good Ol’ Days Bar and Grill in Cumming, according to the Atlanta Journal Constitution.

At 2 a.m., Algar and her boyfriend went outside and collapsed. Customer Timothy Copley told Fox 5 of Algar’s boyfriend, “He passed out on the bench and 911 was called and they had to, he received Narcane to revive and all that.”

The couple were transported by ambulance to Northside Hospital-Forsyth, where Algar told employees that she needed to go home to take care of her child. Deputies from the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office found the child home alone.

The Department of Family & Children Services took the child into custody and Algar was arrested.

Corporal Doug Rainwater of the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office tells Yahoo Lifestyle, “[Algar] became very irate and hostile toward the nurses and doctors trying to help her. Her boyfriend was admitted to the hospital. As soon as the hospital cleared her physically, we put her in a jail cell.”

Rainwater says the child was likely home alone “for hours.”

Copley told Fox 5, “He could have walked out in traffic, he could have fell and hit his little head, on a table busted his head, bled to death and nobody’s there to help him.”

Algar was reportedly charged with felony cruelty to children and misdemeanor reckless conduct. She posted a $22,730 bond on Monday.

Rainwater tells Yahoo Lifestyle, “Obviously drinking was more important than her child.”
