Great news, gang! Amazon Prime Video’s TV masterpiece Modern Love has been renewed for a second season. So you might want to stock up on a whole-sale amount of tissues, as we reckon the second series will be even more of a tear-jerker.
In case you haven’t heard of Modern Love, it’s an eight-part anthology series based on the New York Times' column that explores relationships, love and the human connection. None of the episodes are connected (though they do exist in the same world) so you can binge or spread out as you please. It really is very good.

Modern Love Season 2 will launch on Friday 13th August exclusively on Amazon Prime Video. That's sooner than we thought!

On 23rd February, Amazon revealed the star-studded cast who will lead the second season of the show. Those include:

When was Modern Love season two confirmed?
Announcing the exciting news that will see more heartbreak heading our way, Jennifer Salke, Head of Amazon Studios said in November 2019:
“Since its debut just last week, the reaction to Modern Love from viewers has been incredible. It’s a show with so much emotion and warmth – every episode touches the heart in a different way. We’re so excited we’ll be able to bring our global Prime Video customers more of the beautiful stories of romance, friendship, and family from Modern Love.”
John Carney - the writer, director and executive producer of Modern Love – will return for the second series. He said:
"Being given a green light to proceed with Modern Love is a great opportunity for us to continue to tell stories of love, while opening up the series into new cities and worlds. The possibilities are truly endless. Subsequent seasons can really branch out and dig deep into what it means to love in this complicated world. It’s incredible news for everyone involved in the series, and we are dizzy with the possibilities moving forward."
He later added:
"We’re so excited to bring a second season of this series to life and give an opportunity to really shine a light on what matters most. With so much uncertainty in our current world, these stories bring truth and love to people everywhere and I’m so appreciative to be a part of making that happen."
What will happen in Modern Love season 2?
The series is based on The New York Times' 'Modern Love' column, an exploration of all different kinds of love and relationships, but it's unclear which entries have been selected for the next instalment.
What we do know, though, is that the series has been filmed all over the world, with episodes set in Albany, New York and Dublin.
