Ariel Winter slams internet for assuming she got engaged: 'Just...nope'

On Sunday, Levi Meaden took a knee and appeared to be proposing to Ariel Winter.

However, it appeared to be a joke for the Modern Family star and her boyfriend.

Winter took to Instagram stories to slam the media. “Levi ties my shoes and now it’s apparently a fun pre proposal for the cameras according to the internet???????? dead. Dude we didn’t even notice until you jumped from behind a tree & just … nope,” she wrote.”

Meaden, a 30-year-old actor, and Winter, who has been playing Alex Dunphy since 2009 in the much-beloved ABC sitcom Modern Family, have been dating for over a year.

Modern Family will be filming its 10th and final season.

While Ariel has had plenty of experience as a celebrity, her boyfriend is still trying to navigate his newfound fame.

He told People, “I try to keep relatively the same.”

He adds, “I’ve always kind of been a homebody, so that’s still the same. I just go out and come back home with my girlfriend and three dogs and chill out. I try to make sure I don’t change too much because I like that. This is what I do for a job, but the home and family is where the actual life is, so I try to keep that in mind.”

And like every healthy relationship, theirs is one in which they can lean on each other. The couple has lived together since the rumors of their dating hit the net around November 2016. “We can ask each other to weigh in,” Meaden says.

“It helps when it’s somebody else who is in the industry,” he says. “It helps when you get a role and run it past each other and see what they think and read the script and try things. It’s really helpful.”
