Former glamour model marries golden retriever after '221 unsuccessful dates'

How many bad dates is too many bad dates?

That figure was 221, apparently, for Elizabeth Hoad, 43, who earlier today married her pet dog live on national television after one too many “unsuccessful dates”.

Hoad, a former page 3 model who lives in Ascot, Berkshire, wore a white gown and an oversized matching headband to marry her golden retriever, Logan on today’s ‘This Morning’ show.

In the atypical ceremony, she was pronounced “woman and dog” with the six-year-old rescue dog.

While, unsurprisingly, there is no legal basis for marrying a pet in the UK, the unofficial ceremony involved Hoad saying vows and presenter Alison Hammond serving as an officiant.

Logan, meanwhile, wore a mini top hat and a bib which resembled a suit and tie.

Marrying couples may often promise “to love and to cherish, till death us do part”, but Hoad instead said: “All that I have in my doggy treat cupboard I promise to give to you”.

Of Logan, she told ‘This Morning’ presenters Eamon Holmes and Ruth Langsford that he “saved” her.

“I rescued him a year ago today after I was unlucky in love on 221 dates,” she explained.

“He had a traumatic first four years being locked and beaten in utility cupboard.”

She added: “He's saved me and I've saved him. I was a broken woman when my last dog died.”

“After that my friends who previously joked about marrying Logan, my dog, became more serious, and I thought “why not?’”

As for dating, she says she’s “given up”.

“I tried every app - millionaire match, Tinder, but it don't have any luck. Maybe it's me?,” she lamented.

Other unconventional takes on marriage in recent years have included sologamy – a practice of marrying oneself, like Italian fitness trainer Laura Mesi – and the practice of marrying objects, such as one Japanese man, Akihiko Kondo, who married a hologram.
