The Mississippi Department of Agriculture and Commerce is hosting the second annual Mississippi Mudbug Festival that kicked off Wednesday and will run through Sunday at the Mississippi State Fairgrounds.

“Last year’s inaugural event was a huge success,” said Andy Gipson, Mississippi commissioner of agriculture and commerce. “Our Fairgrounds staff has worked hard to bring this popular festival back again and make it better than ever. We will have musical performances, fair rides and a crawfish boil like no other.”

The festival will include live entertainment from Bobby Rush, Shake the Bucket, former

"American Idol" contestant Hannah Everhart of Canton, , Blue Oyster Cult and more. Entry to the music area is $5 on Friday, $10 on Saturday and $5 on Sunday.

“This year we will have more rides, more entertainment and more food,” said Michael Lasseter, director of the Mississippi fairgrounds.
