Last week, Frank Sinatra's former beach house was swept off the market by another famous figure. The Malibu property, which originally had an asking price of $12.9 million, first dropped to $11.5 million, and was ultimately purchased by actress Mindy Kaling for $9.95 million, reports the Observer. How she got the price down, we’re not sure, but that’s the type of energy we need when going into our next real estate deal.

This beach home would make even Malibu Barbie jealous. The 7-bedroom, 9-bathroom home served as a waterfront retreat for Barbara and Frank Sinatra. In 1992, the couple collaborated with designer Ted Grenzbach to create this luxe property that's been referred to as "the happiest place on earth," according to its website (yes, it has a website, aptly named: sinatrabeachhouse.com). While a certain theme park may actually own that tagline, we would be pretty ecstatic there if Kaling ever wanted to invite us over for a swim.

The beach escape offers ample space for entertaining and dining, an elevator, an indoor-outdoor bar, and a patio overlooking the lawn out to the ocean. There's also a pool and spa located inside the interior courtyard of the home just in case Kaling isn't feeling the ocean that day. Designed with vaulted ceilings, the master suite is equipped with a private terrace, dual bathrooms, a sauna, a hair salon, and a gorgeous view of the horizon. Not even Malibu Barbie had a hair salon in her beach house.

While I'm sure Mindy Kaling will invite her A-list pals like Reese Witherspoon over, many other greats of the past have stepped foot inside this home to hang with Sinatra. Invitees have included Mr. & Mrs. Gregory Peck, Jack Lemmon, Dick Martin, Robert Wagner, Louis Jourdan, Steve Lawrence, and Dick Van Dyke. Clearly, it was made for entertaining. Leonard Rabinowitz, who held the listing for this home, met the Sinatra's in the early '90s and reflects on the lavish parties the couple used to host. "I was blessed in that I was invited back every week for 25+ years," he told The Wall Street Journal in 2018. "To me and the others this was the happiest place on earth. It was cards and giggles among friends in the magnificent setting."
