Nature is healing.

This is not a drill: After years of trying different hair colors on for size, Miley Cyrus has officially (and literally) returned to her roots.

On Sunday, the singer shared a trio of photos on Instagram, captured by photographer Pat Pedraja, detailing the rich brunette hair color, which she revealed when congratulating Sabato De Sarno on his creative directorial debut for Gucci. In the snaps, Cyrus posed in an oversized black blazer and a silver diamond necklace while holding a bright cherry-red leather handbag. She wore her newly dyed locks down in soft waves with a middle part, and she kept her makeup to a minimum with feathered lashes and a glossy peach lip.

“@sabatods Congratulations on your beautiful debut show as creative director @Gucci 🖤 Your stunning heart was shown in every stitch. I love you & am so proud,” she wrote before joking, “Now give me everything.”

While Miley’s hair transformation may have come as a welcome change for many of her fans — “BRUNETTE IS BACK,” one user wrote in the post’s comments with another simply adding, “Mother” —  the singer once revealed that the new ‘do could have come much sooner had it not been for one notable naysayer: Dolly Parton.

In Dec. 2022, Cyrus opened up about how Parton (who’s also her godmother) discouraged her from going brunette ahead of their joint Miley’s New Year’s Eve Party performance when talking to Hoda Kotb on Today.

“I’ve never seen Dolly actually scared before, but I told her, you know, ‘At the end of the year, I was really wanting to do something different. I think I’m going to dye my hair brunette,’” Cyrus, who rocked a bleach blonde peekaboo style at the time, shared. “She acted like I told her the worst news you could imagine.”

Miley then added that Parton “clutched her pearls” and “gasped” at the news, saying, “You can’t do that. You are me.”

“So I’m somehow some extension of Dolly Parton where she looked like I had just given her the worst news you’ve ever heard,” the singer concluded.
