Miley Cyrus recently opened up to her fans about why she can’t tour anytime soon, and many are feeling “devastated” about it. The “Jaded” singer explained that while she loves and is very grateful for her fans, tour life can take a toll on her mental health, daily routine and style.

In a new May 24th Instagram post, Cyrus detailed why she needs to take time for herself in order to ensure her wellbeing. The 30-year-old “Flowers” hitmaker also sat down for an interview with British Vogue published in the past week, and discussed her touring decision.

Miley Cyrus’ Candid Post: Why She Won’t Tour Anytime Soon

In a notes app post, Cyrus wrote to her 208 million IG followers, “For clarity I feel connected to my fans NOW more than ever. When I win, WE win.”

She added, “Even if I don’t see them face to face every night at a concert, my fans are felt deeply in my heart. I’m constantly creating and innovating new ways that I can stay connected to the audience I love— without sacrificing my own essentials.”

The “Angels Like You” crooner also told her devotees that performing for them has been part of some of the “best days” of her life, and that her choice not to tour has “nothing to do with a lack of appreciation for the fans.”

Instead, Cyrus said it has everything to do with the fact that she simply doesn’t “want to get ready in a locker room,” which she deemed a “reality of life on the road.”

The style icon also acknowledged her epic outfits lately, and how many of them wouldn’t fare well in a tour bus or on the road. “These looks I’ve been turnin don’t travel well. The archival looks don’t fold. I just don’t want to sleep on a moving bus,” she continued in her statement.

Cyrus confessed that ultimately, touring isn’t “what’s best” for her “now,” but she didn’t totally cancel out a future possibility. She went on, “If you’ve been following my career, you know that I always change and the way I feel about that could too.

“Love you forever,” she concluded her message, referencing her new album title, “I’m just on my Endless Summer Vacation.”

When speaking to British Vogue recently, Cyrus said something similar regarding touring: “Singing for hundreds of thousands of people isn’t really the thing that I love. There’s no connection. There’s no safety,” she told the outlet.

“It’s also not natural. It’s so isolating because if you’re in front of 100,000 people, then you are alone.”

Fan Reactions To Cyrus’ Touring News

Naturally, many fans who wanted to see Cyrus on tour and hear her sing her new hits took to social media to express their disappointment in the news. “I’ve been waiting to see you one day for 15 years. As a forever smiler, I’ll wait a few more. We love you, take care,” one commented under her IG post as another added, “I’m devastated.”

Someone else wrote a message to fellow sad fans, but urged that supporting Cyrus can be done without a tour. “If you like her music great she doesn’t owe you anything- I don’t need her touring to appreciate her music.”

More commenters seemed to understand Cyrus’ reasoning behind not touring, with one writing, “I totally get this and you do you girl, you owe nothing to us and we love your music. Do you, I respect it.” Another chimed in, “You’ve been traveling to perform since you were a child! We love you no matter what.”
