Miley Cyrus recalls the heartbreaking moment her house burned down during Black Mirror filming

As part of her Used to Be Young social media series, Miley Cyrus has opened up about the heartbreaking moment she found out her house had burned down while filming her 2019 Black Mirror episode. Plus, the lasting repercussions she experienced because of it.
The episode, which was titled Rachel, Jack and Ashley Too, focused on a popstar named Ashley O (Miley's character) who was the subject of AI dolls that were created to be owned by her fans.
Viewers learned throughout the sci-filler thriller episode that Ashley was also being controlled by her manager/aunt (Susan Pourfar) who was sedating her without her consent. The climax of this resulted in a pretty tense scene where Miley/Ashley was strapped to a gurney in a hospital bed after learning of her aunt's actions.
But while filming the triggering scene all the way in South Africa, Miley revealed that was the moment her home in Malibu, California burned down as a result of the 2018 Woolsey fire. She also shared that those experiences coupled together led to a series of anxious periods later down the line.
"Like probably two or three years later, after this happened, I didn't understand, but I would have this anxiety attack with a vision attached – that I would be strapped down to a gurney. So I would have these dreams any time I would go to perform," the 30-year-old recalled.
"I thought that was just an anxious vision that made no sense, but actually, as my house was burning down, I was strapped to a gurney with my hands locked in handcuffs, strapped to a bed," she continued, referencing the Black Mirror scene.
Then, while looking back at the now iconic Ashley O single, On a Roll, she revealed that she had to film the music video straight after finding out about the fire.
"I found out that my house had burnt to the ground. This was the next day," she recalled while watching the video, before adding: "The show must go on."
