Miley Cyrus Just Got A New Tattoo Inspired By A Cool Italian Legend

Miley Cyrus and Kaitlynn Carter's #hotgirlsummer Italy trip might be over, but the "Mother's Daughter" singer apparently had so much fun on her makeout-filled trip that she just got a tattoo to commemorate the whole thing.

ICYMI: Miley Cyrus has made some pretty life-altering changes to her love life recently. She and her husband, Liam Hemsworth, are officially getting a divorce after Miley was spotted kissing Kaitlynn all over Italy.

Clearly, the trip was worth it for Miley, since tattoo artist Doctor Woo shared a photo of the popstar's souvenir on Instagram yesterday—and it's pretty d*mn cool. The tattoo is actually the Visconti of Milan coat of arms, inked on Miley's own forearm. It features a giant serpent swallowing a person, which might seem a little intense, tbh, but is actually a common symbol of Milan.

"Cool old sculpture @mileycyrus found in Italy," Doctor Woo wrote in the caption.

The coat of arms is what's known as a "Biscione," an emblem of the House of Visconti, who controlled the city of Milan from the 13th to the 15th century, according to the New York Daily News. Legend has it that in Lake Gerundo (which is near Milan), a huge snake lived and terrorized the city dwellers by attacking and eating the children and polluting the water with its venom. Legend also says that Ottone Visconti, the founder of the Visconti family, killed the snake and then put it on his coat of arms to show off his conquest.

It's still unclear why Miley chose this particular symbol for her tattoo, but… it’s pretty clear that Miley is moving on from her marriage. And so is Liam. The Australian actor just filed for divorce, according to documents obtained by TMZ, citing the celebrity standard "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for their breakup.

Even though Miley has been spending plenty of time with Kaitlynn, the divorce filing reportedly came as a surprise to her. "She didn’t expect it and is a bit disappointed, but she is still doing well and has obviously moved on as well," a source told People. "What she and Liam had for a long time was very special. It’s just hard for her to think that she will never have this again with Liam. There are really so many things that she loves about him."

So maybe Miley's tattoo is a symbol for conquering the metaphorical serpents in her life? Or maybe it really just is a "cool old sculpture." Either way, she's just doing Miley.
