Miley Cyrus Just Confirmed on Instagram Live That She Broke Up With Cody Simpson
Miley Cyrus and Cody Simpson have broken up after 10 months of dating.
Miley confirmed the news during an Instagram Live, saying she and Cody will remain friends.
Sad news for everyone deeply invested in Miley Cyrus’s relationship with Cody “Prince Neptune” Simpson: They’re over. TMZ was first to report the breakup, saying the couple had split “within the last few weeks.”
This news is pretty surprising, because in early August, Cody hit Instagram Stories to post a photo of Miley, writing, “In love with my best friend.”
But Miley confirmed during an Instagram Live that she and Cody are over, saying, according to the Daily Mail, that they plan to remain friends:
“A year ago, almost to this exact date, the media tried to tell my story for me and control my narrative, and I’m just not accepting that. And so today, it came out that me and my boyfriend have broken up. It was confirmed by a ‘reliable source’ even though no one is reliable in a relationship except the individuals who are participating in it. But right now, two halves can’t make a whole and we’re individually just working on ourselves to become the people that we wanna be, like everybody else at this age. We are just deciding who we wanna be with our lives, what we wanna do with our lives, and so, don’t make it some drama story if next week we’re out hanging out, getting pizza. We’ve been friends for 10 years and we’re going to continue to be friends, so just don’t make it something that it is not.”
Meanwhile, news of the breakup dropped right before the release of Miley’s new song “Midnight Sky,” which Cody has been super supportive of. In fact, he hit Instagram to post this last night:
