Midtown Vietnamese restaurant opens new Sacramento spot. When is the grand opening?

Saigon Alley is now serving its Vietnamese food with a tapas flare in Natomas.

The restaurant is expanding from its midtown Sacramento location on L Street to 4630 Natomas Blvd Suite. 150 — in the same plaza as Raley’s, Five Guys and T4, a boba shop.

It opened Monday for a soft opening, according to its Instagram. Its grand opening is planned for Friday, June 23, and there will be a ribbon cutting with the city council, owner Mymy Nguyen said.

Saigon Alley offers shareable plates of classic Vietnamese cuisine, like charbroiled pork chops, bo tai chanh, which is beef carpaccio in vinaigrette, and bánh bột lọc, steamed tapioca dumplings with shrimp and pork.

The family-style dining is an ode to Vietnamese culture, Nguyen said.

“It’s just tapping into that experience and allowing people to experience Vietnamese food in a different light, versus just going into another pho shop,” she said.

It also has Vietnamese-inspired craft cocktails with signature names.

The Pho Queue Up is a mix of sake, cognac and honeydew melon syrup. The Kong Day at Work is mixed with Thai basil, rye, green tea syrup, orange and cherry wood smoke. And the Long Thailand is an alcoholic spin on a Thai tea.

There will also be location-specific menu items, including more pho options, such as bone marrow pho, and cocktails at Natomas, Nguyen said.

Nguyen said she’s excited to expand into a growing area like Natomas.

“...So for me, I’m trying to expand to locations that (are) missing out on the experience where people have to trek to Midtown just for that,” she said.

When does it open?

The Natomas location is open 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday to Thursday, according to its Instagram.

It’s open 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
