Middletown woman gets life in prison for husband's killing, dismemberment, prosecutors say

A Middletown woman was sentenced to life in prison for fatally shooting her husband and dismembering his body, according to the Warren County Prosecutor's Office.

Bonnie Vaughn's sentence came after her guilty plea Thursday to counts of murder, tampering with evidence and gross abuse of a corpse, prosecutors said in a news release.

Vaughn, 59, shot and killed her husband, Jeffery Fellman, inside the garage of their Stone Path Drive home in September, prosecutors said.

Vaughn and John Havens, who also pleaded guilty on Thursday to tampering with evidence and gross abuse of a corpse, dismembered Fellman's body the day after the shooting, according to prosecutors.

Havens, 34, later walked into the lobby of the Middleton Division of Police and requested to speak with an officer, officials said, adding he told police about the murder and dismemberment.

Officers went to Vaughn's home and discovered Fellman's dismembered body inside a trash can in the garage, prosecutors said.

Vaughn fled before police arrived, but she was later arrested at a gas station on the corner of Dixie Highway and Coles Road, Middletown police said. She tried to flee but officers were able to box in her vehicle and take her into custody.

Havens is slated to be sentenced at a later date, according to the prosecutor's office.
