If you've ever picked up a pack of microwaveable Velveeta Shells & Cheese, you've likely noticed the text on the front that reads "ready in 3 1/2 minutes." Well, that minor detail is now at the center of a major class-action lawsuit.

Food & Wine reports that Florida resident Amanda Ramirez is suing Kraft Heinz for misleading customers into believing that their Velveeta Shells & Cheese will be completely ready in three-and-a-half minutes when in fact that's just the time it takes to microwave the product.

According to the lawsuit, that three-and-a-half minutes doesn't take into consideration the time it takes to open the lid and the cheese pouch, add water, and stir the final product. And if you fall victim to a stubborn lid or you've poured a bit too much water, you might find yourself in the five-minute territory.

"The label does not state the Product takes '3½ minutes to cook in the microwave,' which would have been true," the lawsuit reportedly states. "To provide consumers with a Product that is actually 'ready in 3½ minutes,' the Product would need to be cooked in the microwave for less than 3-and-a-half minutes, so that all the preparation steps could be completed in the 3-and-a-half minutes time frame."

Ramirez is seeking at least $5 million in punitive damages for herself and any other plaintiffs for "false and misleading representation." In a statement to USA Today, a rep for Kraft Heinz referred to the lawsuit as "frivolous."
