There’s something classic about a Christmas village that you place on a tabletop or hutch, lined with fake snow, of course. The kind you choose, however, doesn’t have to be classic, and you can opt for more fun ones like the National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation version or Harry Potter Hogwarts option. For all the Disney lovers, Department 56 has Mickey’s Christmas Village to combine your love of the holidays and being a kid.
Like any good Christmas village, this Disney one is made up of porcelain large buildings and smaller pieces featuring Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse. The very first pieces were introduced in December 2008, and new pieces have come out in January 2011, 2012, 2014, 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2020. Fingers crossed that means we have plenty more to look forward to in the future.
“Way up north, past the North Pole, is a place full of joy. A play where Christmas fills the air and holiday preparations never end. Mickey’s Christmas Village brings holiday magic to your home with intricate details and sparkling illumination,” the description says.
You can find the Department 56 Mickey’s Christmas Village pieces available for individual purchase on Amazon, so you can get exactly the buildings and characters you want. Mickey’s Gingerbread House came out this year and it’s already proving to be a favorite!
Various reviewers said that they’ve added some pieces into their Christmas villages even though they aren’t Disney-themed. So don’t be afraid to be creative and figure out fun ways to sprinkle them in with your other decor.
“This is one of my favorite pieces! The details and craftsmanship are wonderful,” one buyer wrote about the gingerbread house. “Pictures don’t do this piece justice,” wrote another.
If there are two things that make you feel like a kid again, it’s Christmas and Disney. Now your joy around the holidays will be taken up a notch with these decorations.
