Michy Batshuayi calls out UEFA after racism investigation dropped

European soccer’s governing body has decided its ruling on multiple incidents after the Europa League round of 32 match between Atlanta BC and Borussia Dortmund last month, and not everyone is happy about it.

Dortmund striker Michy Batshuayi called out UEFA on Twitter on Thursday, following UEFA’s decision to drop its investigation into the Belgium international’s complaint that he was subject to racial abuse after the match between the two clubs.

Batshuayi said on Twitter after the game in Italy in February that he heard “monkey noises in the stands.”

UEFA did not go into detail as to why it closed its investigation, only saying on its website that it decided to “close the disciplinary proceedings opened for racist or discriminatory behavior.”

Batshuayi didn’t like that much, tweeting shortly after news of the decision broke.

“LOL. Must be my imagination,” he tweeted Thursday.

“Its just monkey noise who cares? 2018 guys.”

UEFA did fine both Atalanta and Dortmund for incidents at that match in February. Atalanta was fined 34,000 euros after its fans set of fireworks, threw objects and blocked a stairwell. Dortmund was fined 40,000 euros after its fans also set off fireworks and threw objects at the game.
