Michelle Keegan opens up on the sexist questions about kids that Mark Wright doesn't get asked

Michelle Keegan has said she is constantly asked about whether she will have children, but husband Mark Wright doesn’t face any of the same questions.

The Brassic actor has been married to radio DJ and former Towie star Wright since 2015, but says they are treated very differently in interviews.

She told Women’s Health: “I do think it’s different for a woman. It shouldn’t be, but it is.

“I get asked about children whereas Mark wouldn’t, for example. Why haven’t I had a child? When am I going to have a child? I don’t know what they want me to say. I don’t know what the right or wrong answer is.”

Keegan, who also starred in Our Girl, said that as she had got older she had decided to stop sharing so much of her private life on social media in the hope that it would stop speculation about their marriage.

The 33-year-old said that she very rarely posted photos of herself and Wright now as she was so sick of people trying to read their body language from pictures.

She explained: “That’s why on social media I stepped back – I don’t want to feed [the stories] anymore. I’ve become more confident in my thirties and I’m just not doing it.”

Keegan also spoke about suffering from impostor syndrome at work, admitting that she had been worried she wouldn’t be able to do a convincing job on Our Girl because of the amount of training involved.

Describing the experience as “overwhelming” on her first day, she said that being forced to fend for herself during shoots abroad over four years on the show had made her “stronger-minded, independent and a lot more confident”.

Meanwhile, Wright has been working on a fitness app with his brother Josh, Train Wright, which will launch in January and covers a range of exercise classes.
