Michelle Dockery Says ‘Downton Abbey’ Is ‘Grander’ than Ever Before in Brand-New Featurette

Downton Abbey lands in theaters a month from today. So, naturally, the Crawleys are celebrating with a little something special.

A brand-new Downton Abbey featurette just arrived to help fans re-immerse themselves in the stately glamour and pomp of Downton. The short video offers a sneak peek into moments from the film, insight into production and behind-the-scenes commentary from the key cast members, including Michelle Dockery (Lady Mary Crawley), Allen Leech (Tom Branson), Elizabeth McGovern (Cora Crawley), Jim Carter (Mr. Carson) and Joanne Froggatt (Anna Bates).

As Dockery reveals in the video above, Downton is more glorious in the movie than we’ve ever seen it. “Everything, it’s all on a grander note…It’s incredible,” she explains. And judging from all those stunning interior shots, we totally have to agree.

But even though Downton Abbey is more gorgeous than usual because the characters are preparing for a surprise visit from King George V and Queen Mary (aka Queen Elizabeth II’s grandparents), Leech is quick to point out that it still brought about the same feelings when he and the rest of the cast arrived on set. He admits there was “a sense of coming home” upon reuniting with the place they spent so much time in for six seasons.

Froggatt echoes his sentiments, recalling the first day the cast arrived on set. “The first day was very surreal, we were all really giddy,” she says.

Downton Abbey arrives in theaters on Friday, September 20. If you’re inclined to plan ahead, then you’ll be happy to know tickets are on sale now. We know we are.
