Stranger Things Season 4 is the most gruesome season yet. Since its humble beginning as a PG-13-ish horror about kids who are really into Dungeons & Dragons, the show has really ramped things up, now featuring broken bones, popped eyeballs, and jump scares. But what everyone’s talking about this season isn’t the blood and gore: it’s the music.

Since the show is set in the past, it’s the perfect vehicle for some good wholesome nostalgia, reminding adults of the hits of their youth, and introducing younger viewers to music from a bygone era. Season 1's major musical accompaniment was “Should I Stay or Should I Go” by The Clash and now, 6 years later, the show’s created not one, but two musical moments in Season 4.

In the newest season, the kids add a new member to their Upside Down fighting crew: Eddie Munson (Joseph Quinn). The rock n’ roll and D&D-loving high schooler joined Dustin, Steve, and others as they attempted to take on Vecna without Eleven.

Teamed up with Dustin, Eddie helped initiate Phase Three of the kids’ epic plan by distracting Vecna’s swarm of bats (which nearly killed Steve in Season 4 Part 1). Dustin and Eddie arm themselves with trash can lids and baseball bats and stake out Eddie’s trailer in the Upside Down, trying to buy Nancy, Robin, and Steve enough time to take out Vecna undisturbed.

Of course, before they go to fight all those bats, they have to call attention to themselves. And what’s the most '80s way to do it? A guitar solo of course. Rather than just yelling and waving their arms, Dustin and Eddie rock out on top of Eddie’s trailer. What were they playing, you ask? Well, it turns out Kate Bush isn’t the only artist whose music accompanied an epic Stranger Things scene.

What song did Eddie Munson play in Stranger Things?

Eddie and Dustin jammed to “Master of Puppets” by Metallica, released in 1986, the same year in which the show’s fourth season takes place.

And to add to the scene’s cool factor, Metallica also posted on their Instagram a video of the scene, along with a caption explaining just how excited they were to be a part of the show. “We were all stoked to see the final result and when we did we were totally blown away," the band’s caption reads. “It’s so extremely well done, so much so, that some folks were able to guess the song just by seeing a few seconds of Joseph Quinn’s hands in the trailer!! How crazy cool is that?”
