But her 2017 Golden Globes speech really blew everyone away. Streep accepted the Cecile B. DeMille award and gave a rousing speech that touched on the importance of diversity in Hollywood, some current political issues, and the necessity of news journalism. “As my friend, the dear departed Princess Leia said to me once, take your broken heart, make it into art," she said in closing, before receiving a much-deserved standing ovation.
