If you're currently streaming The Gilded Age, you may notice that one of the characters, Marian Brook, looks a little...familiar. Well, you would be correct. While Marian is actress Louisa Jacobson's breakout role, she's been in Hollywood—and acting—for basically her entire life. Why? Her mother is Meryl Streep.
The Only Murders in the Building actress and sculptor Don Gummer have been married since 1978, although the pair announced they had been quietly separated for more than six years in October 2023. Louisa is actually the co-parents' youngest child; they had four children over their 45 years together.
Unlike their mother, however, most of the Gummer children (Louisa is also a Gummer, but more on that later) have operated under the radar for most of their careers. Still, you may recognize their faces—and some of their work. Below, here's everything to know about Meryl Streep's four children.
Henry Wolfe Gummer, 43
Meryl and Don's eldest child, Henry, was born on Nov. 13, 1979 in New York, PEOPLE reports. He attended New York University's Tisch School of The Arts before dropping out after two years. Afterward, he focused on creating music, and his songs are even featured in some of his mom's films such as Julie and Julia.
In 2019, he married his wife, Tamryn Gummer. The couple have two children together: daughter Ida Jane, 3, and son Quinn William, 1.
Mamie Gummer, 40
Meryl's oldest daughter, Mamie, made her acting debut at just 20 months old in Nora Ephron's Heartburn (which her mother also starred in), per IMDb. In the years since, Mamie moved on to stage acting, and made her Broadway debut in Mr. Marmalade, per PEOPLE.
The Mamma Mia! star's daughter has also appeared in small television roles, such as The Good Fight and The Good Wife, and even had her own series, Emily Owens, M.D., which ran for a season in 2012, per IMDb. Mamie also appeared again alongside her mother in Ricki and the Flash.
Mamie has one son (who was Meryl's first grandchild), whom she shares with her husband Mehar Sethi. He was born in 2019, so he's about four years old.
Grace Gummer, 37.
Meryl's second daughter, Grace, was born on May 9, 1986. She currently stars in Peacock's Dr. Death, and has appeared in several other projects, including Frances Ha and Mr. Robot.
Like her mother, Grace attended Vassar College, and earned a degree in art history and Italian. After graduating, she quickly switched over to acting, and made her stage debut in the off-Broadway play The Sexual Neuroses of Our Parents in 2008, per the New York Times.
Grace was previously married to Tay Straithairn, but the couple divorced in 2020. Now, she's married to producer Mark Ronson, who she married a year after her first divorce. The couple have one daughter, who was born around January 2023, per PEOPLE.
Louisa Jacobson, 32.
Louisa Jacobson (originally Gummer) was born on June 12, 1991 in Los Angeles, per PEOPLE. She goes by her middle name professionally because of the Screen Actors Guild rules, due to there already being a Louisa Gummer in the Guild. No two actors can have the same name in SAG, according to Backstage.
Louisa followed in the footsteps of both her mother and older sister, and also attended Vassar College. After earning a psychology degree, Louisa initially went into advertising, she said on Jimmy Kimmel Live! in 2022.
The actress went on to receive a master's degree in acting from Yale. Since, she's appeared in several small projects, but her most notable role to date is in HBO's The Gilded Age, where she plays Marian Brook. Fun fact: She loves pickles on peanut butter sandwiches, and her mom even calls her "Pickle."
And there you have it. The GOAT's fam.
