Are Meryl Streep and Ashley Park really singing in Only Murders in the Building?

We just can't get enough of season three of Only Murders in the Building, and Meryl Streep and Ashley Park just made a very musical entrance into the Arconia.
The latest episode of the hit series, starring Selena Gomez, Steve Martin and Martin Short, saw Loretta and Kimber, played by Meryl and Ashley, belt out a dramatic duet titled 'Look for the Light'. But, are they really singing? The songwriters reveal all.
"We were so fortunate to be able to create this song for the legendary Meryl Streep," said co-writers Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, who have written tracks for The Greatest Showman and Dear Evan Hansen.
Benj and Justin wrote the song with Sara Bareilles, who told Billboard, "I am such a fan of the Only Murders and of Pasek and Paul, so the idea of writing together for the first time, especially to offer something to someone like Meryl Streep truly felt like a dream."
The writers shared that they shaped the song around Meryl's voice, with Ashley's vocals being added in later and that they loved the whole process. "Meryl was gentle and focused, and I loved her musicality and her willingness to share her process," said Sara. "Ashley Park’s glorious counter melody was added later, and I got goosebumps the first time I heard it."
In the show, the duet comes as Oliver tries his best to salvage his Broadway play after the murder of his leading man, Ben Glenroy. So, he decides to turn it into a musical which raises some eyebrows amongst his cast, until Loretta takes the stage to sing the lullaby, with Kimber joining in.
We can't wait for more musical numbers in the new episodes! Maybe something from Selena, next?
