Menswear Is Loving the Reusable Water Bottle

Consider the reusable water bottle. Practical, useful, and good for the environment—but nothing more, right? Wrong! In recent months, it has grown to feel like a bit of a covetable menswear accessory: a cross-body bag for the hydration-minded, if you will. (Shoutout to menswear’s own Jonah Hill, who has been photographed with a gigantic metal Hydroflask more times than we can count.) From all ends of the sartorial spectrum, ranging in-the-know streetwear to the highest of high fashion, labels keep pushing smartly designed branded bottles out into the world. And style-savvy dudes everywhere seem to be loving every minute of it.

Last year, Prada released a sturdy bottle made from glossy, colorful steel that quickly became the envy of the Internet's eye. Similarly, Evian borrowed some star power from Off-White designer Virgil Abloh to create a line of post-modernist and shatter-resistant glass bottles. When Dior brought streetwear OG Shawn Stussy out of retirement for a collection, the French label produced a limited-edition bottle for attendees. (It even included the accessory in one of the runway looks.)

Nalgene, the longtime maker of plastic bottles, has worked with up-and-coming brands like Online Ceramics, Brain Dead, and Eden Power Corp. Supreme is bringing back its own sought-after Nalgene bottle for its spring-summer collection. Hell, GQ is even offering a customized version in the latest Best Stuff Box!

These days, many consumers are doing their part to go a little bit greener and avoid single-use plastic. Designers and brands are making that just a little bit easier by dressing up a boring everyday item into a bright object of design. It's not hard to see why the fashion-inclined might opt for a bottle from their favorite brand as opposed to some run-of-the-mill version. Plus, getting a reusable water bottle as Mother Earth slowly melts is a purchase you can feel right about—especially when they look as good as these.
