Forget couture, this year’s Oscars was more about comfort!

Following on from Frances McDormand’s decision to put comfort first, Melissa McCarthy and husband Ben Falcone also opted to forgo traditional Oscars glamour in favour of matching tracksuits for the Vanity Fair after-party.

While most stars stuck to the traditional ultra glam dress code, McCarthy ditched her sleek Brandon Maxwell jumpsuit and twinned with Falcone in black Adidas tracksuits and trainers (Converse for him, Nike for her).

But just to hold onto a little bit of the awards glamour, the ‘Can You Ever Forgive Me?’ actress kept her ritzy diamond jewellery on.

“It’s not [less glamorous] to me guys, I’ve doubled my diamonds – I feel great,” the actress joked to Entertainment Tonight.

McCarthy admitted it was her suggestion to opt for snuggly over style when considering whether to change post-ceremony, and her husband was very much on board with the dress-down choice.

“When I heard it, I was like ‘Oh god, yes'”, Falcone said. “150% yes, let’s do this.”

The tracksuit/trainer combo wasn’t the actress’ first headline grabbing outfit of the evening either.

When presenting the award for Best Costume Design, the star arrived on stage wearing a royal-inspired gown with a cape covered with stuffed bunnies in a nod to ‘The Favourite’ to rapturous applause.

With two costume changes in the bag therefore, it was hardly surprising that the comedian felt the need to go for something a little less fancy for the awards after-party.

Though she ultimately lost out to Olivia Colman in the best actress category, there’s little doubt McCarthy was also a winner in the couple and comfort stakes.
