Warning: Immediate spoilers ahead!
Meghann Fahy was the breakout star of the second season of The White Lotus, which centers on the dark secrets of varying guests and staff at an idyllic resort over a week.
One such storyline in the second season, which was set in stunning Sicily, focused on Daphne (Fahy) and her husband, Cameron (Theo James), vacationing with their friend Ethan (Will Sharpe) and his wife, Harper (Aubrey Plaza).
Quickly, things got awkward with Harper’s reluctance to warm up to Daphne and Cameron—who, on paper, looked like the ultimate picture-perfect couple who have it all. She feels even more uncomfortable following Cameron’s questionable behavior toward her in private before learning that he and Ethan had enjoyed a wild party with two sex workers in her and Daphne’s absence.
In return, Ethan feels blindsided when Harper accuses him of cheating on her when she finds a condom in their hotel room following the party. He then begins to overanalyze the situation and comes to the unproven conclusion that something intimate happened between Harper and Cameron.
Ethan then takes his concerns to Cameron’s wife, Daphne, who also agrees something may have happened between their significant others. Smiling, Daphne leads him down the beach near a giant, ahem, very private, large rock. Viewers never find out what exactly happened, and things were certainly left to our imagination as we drew our own conclusions about what happened.
Meghann Fahy also had her own thoughts and admitted that she had spoken to The White Lotus creator Mike White about what may have happened. Speaking on The Tonight Show, the 32-year-old explained: “I saw him [Mike White] on the night of the finale, and I asked him, because people ask me all the time, and I was like, ‘What do you think happened?’ And I told him what I thought happened, and he was like, ‘Ew, I don’t want to think about that.’” I guess that answers it all, then?
Meghann Fahy immediately became a fan favorite of the series, and fans were up in arms following her snub from the Golden Globe 2023 nominations. While her costars Aubrey Plaza, F. Murray Abraham, and Jennifer Coolidge (who won the best supporting actress) all got nominations, Fahy did not, which was truly criminal.
Nonetheless, it’s nice to see how far Sutton Brady-Hunter has come from The Bold Type!
