Meghan Markle is set to marry Prince Harry on Saturday, and while Meghan won’t be the first biracial member of the British monarchy — that title goes to Charlotte of Mecklenburg-Strelitz, who married Britain’s George III in 1761 — she will make history with her wedding family portrait.

Markle and her mother will be the first black people to be featured in the royal family’s exclusive wedding pictures.

Meghan’s mother, Doria Ragland, is African-American, while Meghan is biracial.

That’s not the only way this wedding will make history: Meghan is the first American to be officially married to a British royal, is divorced, and was raised Catholic (although she was recently baptized into the Church of England in a secret ceremony).

Harry and Meghan’s wedding won’t be quite the same as previous royal weddings, but it will be just as beautiful!
