Meghan Markle’s Wedding Bouquet Featured *This* Super Sentimental Detail
There were many special details about Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s nuptials today, from the bride’s simple-yet-elegant Claire Waigt Keller for Givenchy gown to the couple’s lemon elder-flower flavored cake. One of the ceremony’s sweetest elements — the bride’s bouquet — was so subtle, however, you may have missed it entirely.
In addition to the historical Queen Mary diamond bandeau tiara the Duchess of Sussex wore down the aisle, she carried a lovely grouping of white and green flowers.
They weren’t just any flowers: Designed by florist Philippa Craddock, the bouquet was hand-picked by Prince Harry himself for his bride from the private garden at Kensington Palace.
The prince chose carefully. In addition to the “scented sweet peas, lily of the valley, astilbe, jasmine, and astrania” Markle carried in her arrangement was a copious amounts of forget-me-nots — Princess Diana’s favorite flower — selected specifically to honor her memory. Awwww!
Markle also honored her new family’s roots in the bits of myrtle included in the petite bouquet. According to Today, the myrtle stems in question were cut from plants potted by Queen Victoria back in 1845. Her eldest daughter, Queen Victoria, carried the plant in her bouquet, as did Queen Elizabeth II.
